This field of gryphons is at the intersection of Davis and Schrimpf roads near Calipatria, California, in the Salton Sea geothermal system. These are powered by carbon dioxide gas of hydrothermal origin, but their fluids are mixed with brines nearer the surface so they are generally warm rather than hot.
