Limestone RoadcutGeology Guide photo
This limestone is displayed on the north side of Route 20 near Sharon Springs, New York. Read more about it in the Rock Picture Gallery. In just a few decades, parts of the rock have weathered to sediment while other parts stand as sharp as the day blasting brought the rock back to the light after some 300 million years. Limestone can be an excellent building stone, but it must be chosen carefully.
