Platinum, like gold, is mined today from unromantic ore in which it's invisible. But platinum also forms nuggets that prospectors can harvest using gold pans and similar tools. Platinum is even denser than gold, but it usually is mixed with other metals including iron, copper, gold, silver and palladium. Platinum has a metallic gray streak.
These platinum nuggets (enlarged about 4 times) are rarer than rare, displaying cubic crystal forms. They are from a Russian locality.
