The Audiffred Building is the only building left from San Francisco's original waterfront. It survived the 1906 earthquake and fires when, the story has it, the proprietor of The Bulkhead, a tavern on the ground floor, bribed the firefighters with wine and whiskey to save the structure. Now it houses the tony Boulevard restaurant and lots of history.
