Ohio is rich in Paleozoic fossils and the rocks that hold them: limestone, coal, sandstone, shale. There are several public parks in Ohio where fossil collecting is encouraged, and many others where the rocks are situated to advantage. The state is also rich in rivers and signs of vanished glaciers.
