Nevada is a geologist's dream. Its long geologic history extends a billion years back in time, and its rocks are well exposed by tectonic activity that has stretched the Earth's crust by more than half during the last 50 million years. The resulting exposure of hot deep crust has made Nevada a major center of volcanism and, more significantly, economic mineralization.
