Contact the Geology Guide

There are two ways to reach me.

1. Post to the Forum. I'm on the Geology Forum regularly. Give it a try. If you're registered on another About.com Forum, just use that ID and password here too.

2. E-mail me. I'm happy to hear from you. Just write to geology.guide@about.com. If you're asking for homework help, please check the resources on my site—give it a good try—and also read the FAQ below. If you do write me, beware of your subject line! I use strong spam filters because I get colossal amounts of spam, so if your subject is just "hi" or "question," I probably won't ever see it. If I haven't replied in a week, try again.

F.A.Q.

  1. Q. Can I suggest a site for you to link to? Can I ask you to review my site?
    A. You can, but I make no promises. I've looked at many thousands of pages over the years and I've boiled down my criteria to seven qualities. If your site has all seven, it may well be a good value for my visitors.
  2. Q. Can I use some of the pictures on your site for my school papers or for presentations?
    A. Yes you can, if you aren't putting them online. See my fair use policy for details. Teachers can make use of my images for classroom purposes, including online class notes.
  3. Q. Could I buy or license your images for commercial purposes?
    A. You sure can! That's also covered in the fair use policy.
  4. Q. May I reprint some of your content?
    A. Yes, by filling out the Reprint request form, which goes to the New York Times Company. The company will quote you a fee for the use you propose.
  5. Q. How can I comment about things you don't control, like ads or promotions? Who do I contact about problems with About.com?
    A. Send a message to gethelp@about.com for anything like that.
  6. Q. Where can I find out about stuff that I don't see listed on your site?
    A. It might really be there. For best results, start looking from the Geology home page. If you can't find something in a few clicks, try the Search box on every page. I use it to find stuff here, and I actually know where everything is!

If search doesn't help, then please feel free to e-mail me. Your questions and requests help ME, because then I can create something that people want.

Finally, you can go to the Geology Forum and ask there. Joining is free, and About.com does not send you spam.
  7. Q. What other Guides at About.com can help me with subjects similar to yours?
    A. The Search box brings you links from other Guides, too. Geology is a wide-ranging subject, and other Guides in the Education channel have some related material (use the link at the top of every page). See the Dinosaurs Guide for more fossil stuff, the Space Guide for more about planets, the Weather Guide for more climate basics, the Biology Guide for more evolution-related topics, and the Geography Guide for tons of information about countries, continents and customs.
  8. Q. I'm in industry and I'd like to find more business-type information.
    A. For hard-core information about geology-related commodities and industries, visit the About Business channel.
