Evening falls around 10 pm at this season. Mount Fairweather appears at right, behind the coastal peaks; Mount Crillon is at left. In front are La Perouse and Finger glaciers. This range sheds sediment at a phenomenal rate, adding minerals to the water and weight to the crustal plate. At the same time the range rises as its top erodes away. Our cruise gathered basic data on this interesting region. A wider version of this photo is available as a free 1024 x 768 wallpaper image.
