The view upstream to the east, from a little farther along Old Hernandez Road, shows Pine Mountain on the right and Rock Spring Peak next to it. Note the landslide scar on the hillside at left. Vertical faulting often oversteepens slopes. A short distance beyond, the San Benito River jogs several miles to the left and leads to another downdropped block.
