There are more than 20 FACE (Free Air CO₂ Enhancement) experiments around the world. Each consists of a circle of towers that emit carbon dioxide gas into a piece of vegetated land. The circles can be as wide as 20 meters for forests or as small as a meter for bogs. Except for the CO₂, everything is the same inside and outside the circle.
