Dry Bay and the Alsek River

We were sent southeast to the Dry Bay area, the delta of the Alsek River. Here's the view toward the Brabazon Range and Alsek Glacier during the flight down. Obviously the Alsek is fed by glacier melt, which turns the water milky with rock flour—finely ground sediment. Beyond the mountains is a vast wilderness of peaks and ice, much of it preserved in Glacier Bay National Park. The great Fairweather fault runs just behind the front range.
