The Columbia Plateau reaches California where it is known as the Modoc Plateau. This spot is the same place as pages 4 and 5, looking southeast into the Pit River canyon at the very edge of the Cascade Range rocks. Exposed in the canyon walls are flood basalts of the same vintage as those across Oregon and Washington, the largest volcanic province in North America.
