Revere Avenue winds across the fault trace at several points. The ground here was quarried before the houses were built, leaving vertical walls of fractured rock. Rockfalls are unavoidable in a magnitude-7 earthquake. Houses on upper Revere Avenue, visible at top, may also slide downslope.
