Thunderbird Mountain, Montana, USA

Thunderbird Mountain rises among the high peaks of Glacier National Park in Montana. Like the Canadian Rockies to the north, these mountains are made of stratified sedimentary rocks, uplifted into spectacular relief. Browns Pass is to the left of the mountain.

Note the permanent snowfields near the top, sitting in cirques. These are just one type of glacial landform in this world-class park.
