Shishaldin Volcano, Alaska, USA

Shishaldin Volcano is on Unimak Island, Alaska, way out in the middle of the cold North Pacific. Its beautiful shape means that it is very active—volcanoes are highly erodible and they don't last long, geologically speaking. For more about Shishaldin see its home page.

Shishaldin is part of Alaska's long Aleutian Islands volcanic arc.
