Red Mountain, Montana, USA

Red Mountain is in Gallatin County, Montana, near Yellowstone National Park. There is more than one peak with this name. The bright feature running across the peak near the tree line is the scarp from the 1959 Hebgen Lake earthquake. Elsewhere in this region, the quake triggered a large landslide that dammed a river, creating Earthquake Lake.
