Mount Belknap is a small shield volcano in the Cascade Range of Oregon. Shields are more familiar from the Hawaiian examples, which are enormous structures. Belknap is a young volcano, only about 3000 years old. Its latest eruption was about 1500 years ago. Read more about this mountain at the Cascades Volcanic Observatory.
