My New Favorite Rock
Wednesday April 16, 2008
I don't announce every new picture I add to a gallery, but this conglomerate boulder I saw in the Tumey Hills last month was awesome, a rainbow of smooth river cobbles sticking out of a clean sandy matrix. It's still out there by the road if you want to look for it. If I ever pass that way again I'll visit it and say hi. Something like that happened at Fossil Falls State Park a few days ago: I found the same pahoehoe boulder I had photographed six years before. Hadn't aged a day.Tumey Hills conglomerate Geology Guide photo
