A seismic treat for physics geeks
Friday June 17, 2005
The June issue of Physics Today has a masterful and lucid article by Caltech's David Stevenson, one of my favorite scientists, about the physics of earthquakes and tsunamis, as exemplified by the December 2004 Sumatra events. A great deal is packed into a fairly small number of words. Science geeks are in for a treat. A free subscription to this delightful and challenging journal comes with membership in the American Geophysical Union (and many other societies less relevant to geology). It's a great benefit. The magazine also has a great Web site.
