Of Local Note: Fremont's Finest Fossils Showing at the County Fair

Lots of county fairs probably have a booth or two featuring the local rock shops. In my own county, the annual Alameda County Fair features a display of rare Ice Age fossils from the city of Fremont, where a trove of mammoth bones and other extinct remains were excavated in gravel quarries during the 1940s. Look for them in area O, in the middle of the fair, and check out the institution behind them, the Children's Natural History Museum, which inherited this awesome collection.
