Blue, purple, violet, lilac and lavender-colored minerals are naturally eye-catching. Any rock show or rock shop you visit will have a nice selection. But out in the field, the blues are hard to find. Pegmatites and the oxidized zones of orebodies are the most likely places you'll run into minerals from that end of the spectrum. I've put together a new list organized around these special species: Blue and Purple Minerals. Give them a look.
