Geode Art

Here's yet another version of Earth art, created by Los Angeles artist Paige Smith. She finds an opening—a missing brick, a pipe opening, whatever—and fills the void with crystalline forms made of crisp painted paper. They're beautiful, they're unexpected, and they're temporary. This example was in a standpipe, so naturally the fire people removed it, but I hope they enjoyed it anyway. Smith has documented 11 of her geodes on her website A Common Name.

I think they're worthy of being in the Earth Art gallery.
