Loma Prieta: Share Your Story

By , About.com GuideSeptember 11, 2009

Follow me on:

Once upon a time, in 1989, a pretty big earthquake took the San Francisco Bay area by surprise. Everyone who was there at the time was deeply impressed, but it's typical with rare, random disasters for awareness to fade with the years. People move, people die, people soften their memories. It happens with tsunamis, it happens with volcanic eruptions, and it certainly happens with cosmic impacts (you don't remember? of course not, the last one was in 1908). Hence the role of recording your stories and reading a few, and making sure your children and neighbors have heard them at least once.

Now you can publish your Loma Prieta earthquake story—the link is at the end of this retrospective (or you can go directly to it here). Another possibility is the blog "Remembering the Loma Prieta Earthquake" that I mentioned back in March.
