Play the 2007 AGU game (instructions here)
Wednesday November 28, 2007
The AGU, once known as the American Geophysical Union, meets in San Francisco every December, and I'll be there all week. More than 15,000 people will pack the Moscone Center to see something like 8000 talks and poster presentations (there's no exact count posted yet). So right now, perhaps several thousand geoscientists and several dozen science writers are looking at the online program to sift through the interesting options. Geo-blogger Thermochronic is doing that, for instance. But you can play the game, too. A few years back, when I was just starting here on About.com, I made a set of predictions for the top 10 research stories at AGU that would get in the print news. Including myself as a news site, I got nine of them. OK, I'm not in print. Not counting me, seven of them got into print, and that's why I'm not a big-time news editor somewhere. But take a look at the AGU program and take a big sip from the firehose of science. If you decide to play my game, post your list here or on your blog.Atypical AGU poster Geology Guide photo
