The Web Turns 15

We've come a long way since Tim Berners-Lee announced his simple code for linking information over the Internet on 6 August 1991 (see the timeline on Wendy Boswell's Web Search Guide site). Everything has changed since then, except that a lot of things haven't changed. For getting questions answered, for instance, you may be better off without the Web. But for the web-wide world envisioned as Digital Earth, the Web is the best thing going—as I was reminded just now as I fired up Google Earth to look for Mayon volcano.
