Pennsylvania Preserves Geologic Heritage

I've followed the geoheritage movement for some timethat's people who think we should treat geological treasures like endangered speciesand while the movement is strong in England, it is slower to catch on in the United States. Pennsylvania takes the lead with its Heritage Geology Sites program, which now lists 101 localities. One of them, the Swatara Gap fossil site, was actually relocated when highway builders had to cover the original spot.
