Tourmaline

Wednesday December 14, 2005
This is the last mineral I bought last week--tourmaline, black schorl (or schörl if your tongue is flexible enough). Tourmaline is easy to recognize once you learn its typical signs.

By the way, if the names of gems and minerals are hard for you to keep straight, just find the name in my handy lookup tables that match minerals with their corresponding gems and vice versa.
