Field Etiquette for Geologists

Recently, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park started asking its visitors to stop stacking rocks in piles. Native Hawaiians consider many places in the park to be sacred, and to them random rockpiles are acts of disrespect. Geologists would never dream of doing such a thing, but they have rules of conduct for the things they DO do, like drilling holes in outcrops.
