Paleohurricanes

To better deal with hurricanes, we need a longer record of these storms. Historical documents get you only so far; to look back thousands of years you need a geologist. A handful of specialists is doing that research — paleotempestology — in the coastal muds of the Gulf coast and Eastern seaboard.
