Celebs take in the Tyrrell
Wednesday August 24, 2005
Movie stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt made news a few days ago by visiting a dinosaur museum--and not one of those creationist frauds, either. It was the Royal Tyrrell Museum near Calgary, Alberta, which has exceptional fossil collections from the rocks of Canada and elsewhere. Unfortunately the Tyrrell is not a great online fossil museum, or I'd point you there to learn more about J.B. Tyrrell himself. Instead, get a sense of why Tyrrell is a geologist's celebrity by visiting the University of Toronto's site devoted to him, including his historic expedition to the Barren Lands in the 1890s. It's third in the history of geology category.
