Sea robots reinforce case for warming Earth

The latest issue of Science documents a persistent imbalance in the planet's climate system--the Earth takes in nearly a watt per square meter more from the sun than it re-emits to space, and most of that excess goes into warming the ocean. This research depends on numerical modeling of the atmosphere-ocean system, but also on real-world data from the ocean collected by the Argo program. Argo is a growing network of thousands of free-floating robot sensors that dive up and down in the ocean, then radio physical data to satellites. Read more about the wireless sea. . .
