Geologist leads energy subcommittee
Saturday January 29, 2005
A lawmaker with a degree in geology was named on Wednesday to head the congressional House Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources. That would be Jim Gibbons, a Nevada Republican who has been a military and civilian pilot as well as a hydrologist and mining geologist. This well-connected representative will oversee the U.S. Geological Survey and laws concerning the mining and energy industries.
