Death Valley and Volcano Parks
Wednesday August 4, 2004
Two recent books, one on Death Valley geology and the other on volcanoes in America's national parks, offer a lot to lovers of wild regions. Both are written by authorities. The Death Valley book is more useful to actual geologists than to lay people, despite some efforts to make things easy--it should be your second or third Death Valley book, not your first. But the volcanoes book is, to put it as I do in my review, the most perfect book of its kind. Both reviews are now linked to the Books page.
