More Big Ones on the Way?

Thursday April 15, 2004
Associated Press writer Andrew Bridges made a big splash with his article from a seismologists' meeting in Palm Springs: a scientist says a new "flurry" of great quakes is in the offing in southern California. The scientist is Ray Weldon of the University of Oregon, who reported--well, see his abstract. From 3000 years worth of earthquakes recorded at the Wrightwood site, near Cajon Pass, he thinks the site is ready for some big-time stress release. But practically speaking, there is no news here. Your earthquake preparation is as urgent as ever.
