Climate research not "fringe"

Today's article in "Salon" about the supposed "fringe science" in the U.S. Climate Change Science Program seriously annoyed me.
Yes, the research program was put in place by the Bush administration, and the usual suspects from Greenpeace to the Greening Earth Society have the usual things to say. But in point of fact we absolutely need to do the research. If it were up to me I'd make climate science the focus of an Apollo-type program. The Salon author, Katharine Mieszkowski, seems to have little grasp of the subject but she can arrange dueling quotations all day. We'll see if my letter is published.
